The Naval Academy Sailing Center is home to several world-class sailing teams and a number of exciting training programs.

Our Intercollegiate Sailing Team, a member of the Mid-Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association, sails in over 60 collegiate events each year. It has turned out collegiate all-Americans, College Sailors of the Year, Olympians, and America's Cup sailors.

Our Varsity Offshore Sailing Team competes in big-boat regattas - many of which are hosted by the Naval Academy - both locally on the Chesapeake Bay and along the Eastern Seaboard in the summer.

The Offshore Sail Training Squadron is a summer training option for midshipman that exposes them to seamanship and navigation, life on the sea, and small-unit leadership. 3/C midshipmen have the opportunity to be crew-members while 1/C and 2/C midshimpmen can train to be skippers or executive officers.

Basic Sail Training (BST) trains over 1,250 incoming freshmen midshipmen (or "plebes") during each summer. The training provided involves the basics of sailing, knot tying, and basic seamanship. The BST program's design is two-fold: to provide a safe training environment for introducing the professional seamanship skills required of the Naval Officer and to introduce sailing and the nautical environment.
