Here is a list of free teaching tools that are available online: 


Student Response Systems: allow instructors to pose questions and gather student's responses during a lecture. 

Digital Whiteboard

  • Google Jamboard: Part of G-suite enterprise.  Create, collaborate, and bring your team’s ideas to life. Jamboard unlocks your team’s creative potential with real-time co-authoring. Experience unhindered productivity, whether your team is in the same room using multiple Jamboards, or across the world using the Jamboard app on mobile.
  • Scratchwork: a digital whiteboard  where you can draw, type, and type math formulas (up to five people per board)

Concept Mapping Tools

Below are several concept mapping tools that provide free licenses (allows up to 3 concept maps), are integrated with Google drive, and support real-time group collaboration.  

LucidSpark
  • Allows students and teachers to whiteboard together in real time

Discord

  • Discord  is the easiest way to communicate over voice, video, and text, whether you’re part of a school club, a nightly gaming group, a worldwide art community, or just a handful of friends that want to hang out. One creates a channel, invites users to subscribe with a link, and once subscribed they can sign into the channel with the touch of a button.

Web conferencing system

  • Zoom ( Zoom offers a full-featured Basic Plan for free with unlimited meetings up to 100 participants)

Jeopardy-Style Games

Perusall 

  • A social learning platform that prepares students for class. The platform incorporates a novel e-book reader with collaborative annotation.

Jigsaw

  • The Jigsaw Classroom is a cooperative learning technique that reduces racial conflict among school children, promotes better learning, improves student motivation, and increases enjoyment of the learning experience.

  • This Directory, compiled by Jane Hart, contains over 100 learning and performance tools (some of them are free).

Mid Calendar

Use this to automatically add all USNA course periods to a Google Calendar. this will generate a full semester calendar that follows the official USNA Academic Calendar and handles Thursdays that follow a Monday schedule, days that have early schedules, and holidays etc.
