Induction Day Information (June 29, 2023)

All parents will be allowed to drive onto to the Naval Academy yard with their son or daughter's Permit to Report letter in order to drop off their midshipmen candidate.

However, no vehicles will be permitted to park on the yard.
The Permit to Report letter is only valid for June 29th, 2023.

All family and friends are encouraged to park at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium and take the free shuttle buses to Alumni Hall. There is a $10 charge to park at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. Due to congestion and increased security measures at the entrances to the Academy, it is recommended those reporting to the Naval Academy for admission and those traveling with them use the shuttle from Navy Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. 

I-DAY Schedule of Events

0630 Commence processing for the incoming class (Alumni Hall).
0730-1730 USNA (Midshipman) Store open.
0800 Colors Ceremony (music provided by band at Worden Field Gazebo).
0800-1700 Armel-Leftwich Visitor Center Gift Shop open.
0900-1400 Parents and Guest Expo Begins at Hospital Point with multiple vendors
0930-1500 Naval Academy Tours & Information available (Armel-Leftwich Visitor Center).
1000-1400 Yard Patrol Craft tours (Dewey Seawall).
1100-1400 Alumni Association/USNA Foundation Welcome Aboard Picnic (Hospital Point)
1435-1500 Band Concert, inside Alumni Hall.
1430-1600 Parents' Briefing in Alumni Hall (Superintendent, Commandant, Academic Dean and Provost, Athletic Director) Doors open 1430, brief begins at 1500
1725 Band Concert (T-Court) and procession to seats.
1800  Oath of Office Ceremony in T-Court (inclement weather, in Alumni Hall).
1830-1915 Incoming class meet with parents in designated areas/Personal swearing-in ceremonies
1930 Evening meal formation (Stribling Walk) with Band support.

Bus Service (I-Day Only)

USNA will provide bus service from:
Navy Marine Corps Memorial Stadium  (5:30 am to 8 pm.) to Alumni Hall (5:30 am. to 5 pm.)
or
Gate 1  (5 pm. to 8 pm.)

USNA Gate access for Induction Day

In order to drive on to the Naval Academy yard, all parents will be required to undergo a background check and obtain a DBIDS photo ID. Information to obtain a DBIDS photo ID can be found here

(I-Day minus one)

Gate 8 
Open 24 hours a day for both vehicles and pedestrians. 
The only gate authorized for candidate vehicle entrance

Gate 1 
Vehicle Traffic
: 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Pedestrian Traffic: 5:00 a.m. to 12 a.m.

Gate 3
Pedestrian Traffic: CLOSED
Vehicle Traffic: CLOSED

29 June Gate Access
(I-Day)

Gate 8 
Open 24 hours a day for both vehicles and pedestrians. 
The only gate authorized for candidate vehicle entrance

Gate 1
Vehicle Traffic: 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Pedestrian Traffic: 5:00 a.m. to 12 a.m.

Gate 3
Pedestrian Traffic: 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Vehicle Traffic: CLOSED

  • The Parent's Briefing is an excellent opportunity to hear from and ask questions of the Superintendent, Commandant, Academic Dean, and Athletic Director. The briefing location and time is Alumni Hall at 1500.

  • Important information for state driver’s licenses or identification cards from Minnesota, Illinois, Missouri, New Mexico or Washington and identification cards from American Samoa: Due to the REAL ID Act of 2005, Pub.L. 109–13, 119 Stat. 302, enacted May 11, 2005, individuals presenting driver’s licenses or identification cards from the above states and territory must provide a second form of identification. Individuals who provide credentials from states that do not meet Real ID Act requirements must provide an additional approved form of ID listed in table 12-1 of CNICINST 5530.14a, Ashore Protection Program.
