APAA Brianne Bilsky

Associate Provost for Academic Affairs


Brianne Bilsky joined the U.S. Naval Academy as the Associate Provost for Academic Affairs in July 2024. The APAA oversees all matters related to curriculum management and classroom instruction and serves as the Academic Dean and Provost’s principal advisor on curricular issues. Dr. Bilsky graduated summa cum laude from Washington & Jefferson College with a Bachelor of Arts in English. She earned her Masters and PhD in English from Stanford University. Her teaching and research interests include literature and war; postmodernism and modernism; the intersection of the humanities and the sciences; and pedagogy.

Prior to joining the Naval Academy, Dr. Bilsky spent six years at Yale University as the Dean of a residential college and a lecturer in the Humanities Program. She took on those roles after a four-year tenure as an Assistant Professor in the Department of English and Philosophy at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. Dr. Bilsky joined the USMA faculty after beginning her career in higher education as an administrator and instructor at her undergraduate alma mater, Washington & Jefferson College.
