Chaplain Jason D. Everson

Chaplain Jason Everson is a native of Lumberton. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Systems Engineering from the United States Naval Academy (Class of 1999). He graduated in 2010 from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, with a Master of Divinity. He is an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church and has served various churches within the South Carolina Annual Conference.

After graduating from the United States Naval Academy, he was commissioned as an Ensign and volunteered for submarine duty. He served aboard USS NORFOLK (SSN-714) in various division officer roles. At the completion of his tour, he resigned his commission to begin his theological studies for ordination within the United Methodist Church. In 2017, he was recommissioned in the U.S. Navy Chaplain Corps. He has served as a chaplain at the Chapel of Hope in Yokosuka, Japan, 8 TH Engineer Support Battalion of the 2 nd Marine Logistics Group in Camp Lejeune and most recently at Naval Special Warfare Development Group.

His personal awards include the Joint Commendation medal, four Navy and Marine Commendation Medals, the Navy and Marine Achievement Medal, and various other unit and team awards. He is a qualified Submarine Warfare Officer, Fleet Marine Force Warfare Officer, and Submarine SCUBA Diver. He is married to Jocelyn Everson, and they have two daughters, Liya, and Mary Elizabeth.
