LCDR von Heeringen

Clinical Psychologist

Lieutenant Commander von Heeringen commissioned in 2018. She holds a Doctorate of Psychology in Clinical Psychology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

She served in various clinical and operational positions throughout Navy Medicine, beginning at Navy Medicine Readiness Training Command Cherry Point as the Behavioral Health Department Head. During this tour, she served as the primary operational consultant to six squadrons within the 2d Marine Aircraft Wing and deployed as the Embedded Mental Health Consultant to Task Force Commitment.

Operationally, Lieutenant Commander von Heeringen deployed to Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti. She supported the Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa, serving as a SERE psychologist and spearheading psychological support for theater-wide personnel recovery operations. Following her deployment, she was assigned as the Officer in Charge of the Operational Stress Control and Readiness (OSCAR) Team for the 6th Marine Regiment, 2d Marine Division. She was selected as the Marine Air-Ground Task Force (MAGTF) Deputy Surgeon for Service Level Training Exercise 5-23 and served as the Psychology Lead for the Commanding General’s Division Leaders Assessment & Preparation Program (DLAP).

Lieutenant Commander von Heeringen assumed the role of Director of the MDC in June 2026. She is qualified as a Fleet Marine Force Warfare Officer and has completed Joint Professional Military Education Level I. Her areas of interest include consultation, executive coaching and leadership development, personnel selection, and the application of psychological principles to operational mission-sets. She enjoys teaching, mentorship, and outreach, and applies a holistic approach to treatment.
