Korean War

 2ndLt Jerome C. Stuart, USMC & Col Thomas R. Stuart, USN , Class of 1951

Jerome and Thomas were both members of the Class of 1951. Both were commissioned Second Lieutenants. The two brother’s followed in their father’s footsteps, LtGen James A Stuart (Class of 1922) when they were commissioned in the United States Marine Corps. Jerome, would give his life in the line of Service during the Korean War. While on patrol he would instantaneously be killed by shrapnel from a land mine. Thomas would be wounded in combat during the Korean War but return home. He would also go on to serve in Vietnam. Jerome is buried in the cemetery in his father’s plot, Section 5; Plot 768. Thomas is interred in the Columbarium, 17-6-K.


CDR Raymond W. Vogel, Jr, USN, Class of 1936

CDR Raymond W. Vogel, Jr. was a member of the Class of 1936. Vogel served in both World War II and the Korean War. During World War II he was a part of a fighting squadron (VF-11) and had at least one confirmed victory. By the time of the Korean War he had been promoted to CDR and was part of VF-111 flying from the USS Philippine Sea (CV-47). In August 1950 his Vought F4U Corsair was shot down near Seoul. CDR Vogel died in the crash. He is laid to rest in Section 3; Plot 338 of the cemetery.
