Registration is now open!  Please complete this form to register for the 2023 McMullen Naval History Symposium.  There is no registration fee.  Registration for attendance at the luncheon on Day 1 of the Symposium is first come, first serve, and only those who register in advance will be able to attend.

Travel & Transportation:

The Symposium will be held "on the Yard" at the U.S. Naval Academy.  Air travel to Annapolis is easiest via BWI-Marshall Airport which is roughly a 35 minute taxi or shuttle ride away.  All travel and lodging details are the responsibility of individual attendees.  A shuttle will be provided to assist attendees with access to the Naval Academy.  The shuttle will run from USNA to the Doubletree Hotel, Annapolis, and the public parking lot ($10/day) at Navy Marine Corps Memorial Stadium throughout the conference.  If you do not intend to ride the organized shuttle, you will be individually responsible for entry through USNA security; details can be found here.

Lodging:

The Doubletree Annapolis Hotel has established a block of rooms to support the McMullen Symposium.  You can find the discounted rate by either following this link or calling the front desk at (410) 224-3150 and telling them you are with the Naval History Symposium.  The Doubletree is not an official partner of the Symposium and is offering their discount independently in support of the wider naval history community.  Annapolis has many other lodging options and you are welcome to explore those opportunities as well.

UPDATE: The Doubletree Annapolis is fully booked as of 25 August. There are several other hotels in the area that are an easy walk to the Doubletree to catch the shuttle, or you can also find the shuttle at Navy Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.

Program:

You can find the final program posted above.  The Directors would like to thank Dr. Roger Bailey, Major Ben Brewster, LCDR Chris Costello, Dr. Abby Mullen, Capt Bob Qu, Major Tom Scovel, and Dr. Gene Smith for their hard work as members of the Program Committee this year.

In prior McMullen years, the Naval Historical Foundation hosted the Dudley W. Knox Lifetime Achievement Award Banquet on Friday evening following the final sessions of the Symposium.  With the decommissioning of NHF in December of 2022, the U.S. Naval Institute has taken over responsibility for the Knox Award.  You can find registration information for the USNI hosted Knox Award event at USNI's website or by following this link.
