Johnson Scholar Program
Advanced Theoretical Mathematics for Navy Midshipmen
The Johnson family has established the Johnson Scholars Fund at the United States Naval Academy in honor of MIDN John Monroe Johnson (1998–2020) to motivate midshipmen to follow in Johnson’s footsteps by conducting advanced mathematical research. The program is available to rising 1/C and 2/C midshipmen. The selected midshipmen will be known as Johnson Scholars and are awarded with funds to support their planned research activities. Up to two Johnson Scholars will be awarded each year.
Eligibility
- Rising 1/C and 2/C midshipmen at the USNA.
- Major in SMA(H), SMP(H), or theoretical SMO(H).
- Have taken/validated SM291, or equivalent.
Application Process
Fill out the form when available in the spring. You will be asked to provide the following:
- Research Objectives
- Plan for research activities
- Faculty Advisor(s) information/plans
Deadline
Applications will be accepted from April 1st through April 30th. Eligible midshipmen will be notified via email with the application form and information.
