  • Stop Using MS Word for Math! A Hands-On Introduction to Creating Class Materials using LaTeX

MS Word and other traditional word processors are typically suboptimal for mathematical symbols and placement. LaTeX is a markup language that serves as the industry standard in research mathematical publishing, and it provides straightforward ways to generate beautiful worksheets, quizzes, and exams for your classes! During the session, we will work collaboratively on barebones templates, learning how to seamlessly integrate text with inline math, structure complex equations, and properly align matrices and integrals. By the end, we will have created a customized worksheet and exam documents. Participants are encouraged to create a free account at overleaf.com beforehand to follow along, and to bring sample topics, questions, and images or plots they would like to include.
